Well I thought this last blog would be an easy one but it was harder than I thought. I didn't see any Monarch butterflies in my neighborhood so I decide to go to O.P Schnabel Park with my dog. As soon as we started walking I found one but it didn't want me to take a picture of it. So after looking like a crazy person chasing a butterfly with my cellphone in one hand and my dog pulling me the opposite way in my other, I took these pictures.

Simple Machines at Home
I have many simple machines in my house and never even thought about it. The first simple machine is a bottle opener.
The second simple machine that we use is a door knob. The door knob is used by millions of people everyday.
The third helps us see when it is dark. It is a light bulb.
The fourth simple machine in my house is a fork. It helps me get nice and "healthy".
The final simple machine that not only I enjoy but so does my dog are our blinds. I like to let sunlight into our home and Lucy loves to look outside.

How Do I Reduce-Reuse-Recycle at Home?
The way we reduce at my house is by turning off all the lights. I am always making sure that all lights are turned off to reduce our use of energy.
We also try to recycle as many things as we can which is usually all our plastic water jugs. We sometimes also try to reuse them by using them for tea or some other beverage.
Something else that we try to reuse at my house are all the plastic grocery bags . We end up with a lot of plastic bags after grocery shopping. So we try to reuse them by using them for trash bags or anything else.

Science at School
Science is a subject I have always enjoyed. I don't remember if it began in elementary school, but I do enjoy it now. The students I am observing have an exciting and energetic teacher. I can see them grasp the topics when she comes up with cool songs and gestures. I was also able to see a few of the cool books the students have at their disposal.
What do you like about science?
"The experiments!"
One on the topics that the students are going over right now is the earth and its different layers. I was able to find a cool poster that I am sure many of the kids look at for additional help.
How would you explain science?
"It's like math, there is always something to solve!"
The last and most important thing I saw was that every student drew a picture of lab safety. Lab safety is something that every student should understand before any experiment.

Science at Home and my Neighborhood
I started off my scientific experience by looking around my apartment. The first living thing that I couldn't help but notice was my dog because she always wants attention. Her name is Lucy and she is a German Sheppard/ Lab mix.
(In this picture she was extremely tired from a 4 hour trip home.)
The next animal I have in my home is my turtle. It is about 7 inches long and about 6 years old. It is pretty cool and I enjoy just watching it swim and eat its food.
(In this picture I was able to sneak up and see it asleep with its head completely out of its shell.)
After looking around inside I went out onto my patio and found some wasps. This is the second time that they have built a nest in the same area.
I then decide to take Lucy to the dog park and look for a squirrel. We didn't find a squirrel but she did have fun and enjoys the dog park. As she was playing I sat on the bench and enjoyed the calm of nature.
As I was sitting there enjoying the day and watching Lucy play, I began to pay attention and noticed an annoying sound. Then something jumped at me and landed on the fence. I got up to look to see what it was and this is what I saw.
I think it is a locus. When it would jump in the air it would make a flapping noise and that is the same noise that was all around me. So I got Lucy and went home. All in all it was a good experience and I probably wouldn't have seen it if I wasn't paying attention.

Project "Wet" and Wild at Eisenhower Park
The day turned out to be full of rain and wind but it had its up side. The activities we did were fun and entertaining.
The scavenger hunt should have been done with things from the wild, but because of the rain, we kept it to what we had in our lunches. I also enjoyed Wild Bingo because it was a great way to meet some of our classmates, and I also learned a couple new things from them, too. We then were paired up between tables and worked on our group presentation called Does Wildlife sell?
Our presentation was going pretty good until mother nature decided to rain on our parade, literally, and we had to adjust accordingly. All in all the day was pretty fun but I do wish we would have gone on the hike.
